GITEGA January 29th (ABP) – The interfaith prayer of thanksgiving organized in Gitega (central Burundi) by the CNDD-FDD party continued on Friday January 26, 2024, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

                                                                   Dr Abbé Dieudonné Niyibizi

The President of the Republic, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, with senior executives, executives and leaders within the CNDD-FDD party participated in a teaching session on the vision of development.

In his presentation, Dr Abbé Dieudonné Niyibizi asked leaders to sanctify themselves, sanctify work to have quality work, sanctify others in order to better manage the country and also with a view to achieving the vision of emerging Burundi in 2040 and developed in 2060. He also asked them to always give thanks to God and cut short injustice, selfishness, comparativism, misconduct, professional incompetence and illicit enrichment to achieve sustainable development. Also, lack of vision, disruption of work and poor collaboration are behaviors to avoid.

View of the leaders present in that session

Dr Abbé Niyibizi invited leaders to be people of integrity to serve as models in the world of work. “It is difficult to achieve sustainable development as long as there are leaders who are dissatisfied with their assets, who seek to illicitly enrich themselves by appropriating public goods, corrupt leaders and who have no vision” , he said, pointing out that God cannot bless such leaders under any circumstances.

President Ndayishimiye said those lessons offer leaders a moment of introspection even if, he stressed, some of them are hypocrites. He called on them to change their mentalities and behaviors so that Vision 2040-2060 is realized.

President Ndayishimiye asked those leaders not to be obstacles to the country’s development because according to him, most prioritize money rather than work. “Real Bagumyabanga have love for their work, do not squander public assets and do not ask for corruption,” he said. He recommended that Bagumyabanga accused of corruption and who appropriate or squander public property be sidelined.

Taking into account the past of our country and the current state of its development, the Head of State indicated that he does not fear that in 2040, Burundi will be an emerging country. He further pointed out that Burundi would already be developed if the diverted funds were used in the development of the population at the community level.

Note that the President of the Republic urged leaders to tackle development work from the primary sector.
