BUBANZA, May 29th (ABP) – The Deputy Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD political party, Mr Cyriaque Nshimirimana, joined the inhabitants of the Rugazi commune, Bubanza province (north-west Burundi), in community development work on Saturday 25 May to rehabilitate the Rugazi-Musigati road, according to local sources.

The administrator of the Rugazi commune, Isaac Nyandwi, explained that the road had been damaged by torrential rains that fell on the commune, causing other damage such as the destruction of six bridges, houses, fields and a landslide, which caused some of the inhabitants of the Kibuye hill to move away.

The governor of Bubanza province, Cléophas Nizigiyimana, said that awareness of the CNDD-FDD political party’s programme for planting avocado and other trees was already under way, with at least 5,000 avocado plants per hill and 10,000 maracoudja plants per hill, according to local sources.

In his speech, the Deputy Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD political party called on the people of Bubanza province to safeguard peace and security, through the proper functioning of the joint security committees.

Mr Nshimirimana asked households to devote themselves to increasing production and to managing the harvest properly in order to ensure their development and the achievement of the vision of Burundi emerging in 2040 and developed in 2060. He urged the administrative staff and other leaders to commit themselves to eradicating concubinage, which is one of the major obstacles to household development.

The Deputy Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD also insisted on protecting the environment in order to cope with climatic hazards, by digging contour lines, planting agro-forestry trees and others. That CNDD-FDD authority also invited the population to respond massively to the general census of the population, agriculture, livestock and housing, by answering correctly and honestly to the questions asked by the enumerators.

He is also asking everyone to prepare for the forthcoming elections by getting everything they need, such as national identity cards, and by not listening to rumours of insecurity.
