BUJUMBURA, July 5th (ABP) – Dr. Révérien Nizigiyimana, ADB Country Director for Burundi, inaugurated work in Bujumbura on Thursday (4 July) to validate priority reforms in development sectors that will lead to success in strengthening the business climate.

The sectors concerned are agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, industry, infrastructure and agro-food processing,” said Dr Nizigiyimana, noting that improving the business climate is one of the key factors for the success of the country’s emergence and development ambitions. It also remains one of the main priorities of the Burundian government, which has created conditions conducive to socio-economic development.

The State of Burundi is committed to improving the investment climate by introducing the necessary reforms to support the government’s major project of making the private sector the lever of economic development, he explained.

According to Dr Nizigiyimana, the aim of that workshop is to bring together development stakeholders from the public and private sectors, such as sectoral ministries, specialised institutions, the business community and academia, to validate the priority reforms identified in the above-mentioned development sectors. He went on to say that a sectoral analysis has been carried out to identify the sectors that could improve opportunities for investors and are key to the country’s economy. That analysis forms part of the sectors of the National Development Plan (NDP), he said.
