NGOZI January 31st (ABP) – The governor of Ngozi province, Désiré Minani, has granted, since Monday, January 29, 2024, concerned parents two additional weeks to complete the late registrations of their children. He said that in an interview with the media.

That was motivated by the very high number of parents who want to register their children, as was observed on Friday January 26, 2023, the last day of the grace period which had been decreed by the governor. At the registration centers of zones and communalities, queues were noted. That day, more than 6,000 children were registered.

However, the campaign had had a small number of registration agents which meant that many parents returned without registering their children. He was also noted by parents who lose birth certificates or change residence and who seek to register the child for the second time.

According to Governor Minani, the failure to register children in the civil registry has many consequences on the child, the family and those around them. In addition to losing many of his social and economic rights, disputes within the family and those around him only get worse.
