Analysis and adoption of the calendar of activities of the National Assembly for the period from 29 April to 13 May 2024

BUJUMBURA, May 3rd (ABP) – The members of parliament, meeting on Tuesday 30 April in plenary session at the Kigobe hemicycle, analysed and adopted the draft calendar of activities planned for the period from 29 April to 13 May 2024.

The National Assembly is planning the plenary session to analyze and adopt the bill on the ratification by Burundi of the General Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Burundi and the Gabonese Republic, signed in Libreville on 16 January 2024, the bill on the ratification by the Republic of Burundi of an agreement on labor cooperation between the government of the Republic of Burundi and the government of the Gabonese Republic signed in Libreville on 16 January 2024 and the draft law on the ratification by the Republic of Burundi of the trade agreement between the government of the Republic of Burundi and the government of the Gabonese Republic, also signed in Libreville on 16 January 2024.

A plenary session is also scheduled to analyze and adopt the draft law amending the organic framework of Burundian public establishments, as well as the draft law amending the organic framework of personalized State administrations.

The MPs will also meet in plenary session to analyze and adopt the draft law amending Law No. 1/19 of 14 September 2018 amending Law No. 1/15 of 9 May 2015 governing the press in Burundi.

It is also planned to analyze and adopt the Senate’s amendments to the bills, including the bill ratifying by Burundi the General Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Burundi and the Gabonese Republic signed in Libreville on 16 January 2024, the bill on the ratification by the Republic of Burundi of an agreement on labor cooperation between the government of the Republic of Burundi and the government of the Gabonese Republic signed in Libreville on 16 January 2024, and the bill on the ratification by the Republic of Burundi of the trade agreement between the government of the Republic of Burundi and the government of the Gabonese Republic signed in Libreville on 16 January 2024. During that period, the draft law on the reorganization of local government will also be analysed and adopted.
