CIBITOKE December 27th (ABP) – Along with his family and neighbors, the Prime Minister of the Republic, Mr. Gervais Ndirakobuca proceeded on Saturday, December 24, 2022, to the harvest of his potato field, located at the site of Mirudi, Bukinanyana commune, in Cibitoke province.

In his message to the people, the Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the good production of that kind of tubers of the so-called Shangi variety. On an area of around two hectares, he was able to harvest more than 40 tons of potatoes. Thus, he invited the people to focus more on agriculture, the sector providing a living for more than 80% of Burundians.

According to the communal agronomist of Bukinanyana, Mr. Clément Niyibigira, who made the daily monitoring of that field, the said Shangi variety does not exceed 105 days to give its good production. It should be noted that after the harvest, the Prime Minister spent the night in his native commune of Bukinanyana, to join, the next day, the faithful of the Catholic Church of Gihango (Ndora), where he took the opportunity to thank God for his goodness and blessing to his family, especially for the birth of two twin children during the year.
