Young graduates are called upon to team up in cooperatives for their self-development

KAYANZA December 14th (ABP) – Young people from Kayanza commune and province grouped within the Mbegera Bunini cooperative call on other young graduates not to rely on State employment, but rather to approach large-scale cooperatives to acquire knowledge, a check in Kayanza by ABP got informed during his visit to the Kabuye and Murima zones.

Indeed, the “Mbegera Bunini” cooperative has put forward the grafting of cassava cuttings. It brings together 30 young people and the majority of them are young graduates looking for job. It operates on an area of about seven hectares located on the Karinzi, Kinyamukizi and Nkuba hills, all of Kayanza commune.

Contacted on the site, the young people teamed up in that cooperative said that they enjoy the benefits from working in association because after having joined the cooperative, they began to develop. For example, Séraphine Mpawenimana, a young girl with a degree in pedagogy, testified that she is now able to meet some of her needs and she has already bought a property in which she now exercises the cassava grafting activities. Miss Mpawenimana takes the opportunity to ask young graduates to roll up their sleeves and join cooperatives.

On his part, the leader of the Mbegera Bunini cooperative, Mr. Emmanuel Barukinamwo, indicated that in view of the transformation of cassava production, their cooperative plans to manufacture cookies, cakes, and others.

Despite the step already taken, he pointed out, the same cooperative faces many challenges, especially the lack of motor pumps for irrigating the fields during the dry season. To do this, he asks the government, economic and financial partners to lend them a hand in order to enable them to achieve their goals.
