The transformation of biodegradable waste into combustible briquettes will protect the environment and promote hygiene

BUJUMBURA June 3rd (ABP) – One of the members of the Cooperative (COIEDE), Mr. Onesphore Nkurunziza that a check by ABP met on Tuesday June 1, 2021 in Bujumbura in a trade fair underway since May 28 of products made in Burundi, testified that the transformation of biodegradable waste into combustible briquettes will protect the environment and promote hygiene.

Mr. Nkurunziza indicated that COIEDE is a cooperative company working in the fields of energy, electro-mechanics and agribusiness processing.

In the energy field, he specified that this cooperative manufactures combustible briquettes to provide the people with a combustible made from vegetable biomass, of very good quality at an affordable price, thus making it possible to fill the energy deficit that Burundi is going through but also to fight against deforestation and the destruction of the ozone layer.

He testified that transforming biodegradable waste into combustible briquettes will reduce the drudgery associated with collecting firewood and reduce the consumption of charcoal. In addition, he added, their activity aims to preserve and improve the people’s living conditions.

The different machines such as those for pellet, briquette, sugar cane, mill, and so on, manufactured by COIEDE will be used by the industries of young entrepreneurs to reduce orders outside the country. Mr. Nkurunziza took the opportunity to invite young entrepreneurs to visit their exhibition. He also recalled that this cooperative works in the field of agribusiness processing with the fruit juice sector called “Baho”.

Indeed, he said, the idea of ​​entrepreneurship came from ten people who came together to create jobs and fight against malnutrition. The latter are able to collect more than two tons of fruit per month, in particular pineapples, watermelons and passion fruits. In addition, they work in the modern processing incubator and process the natural, sanitary and nutritious juice with better quality. He testified that he joined COIEDE to have the knowledge, stressing that for the moment he is able to cover the needs of his family. He called on young people looking for jobs not to waste time and team up with others in associations or cooperatives to avoid unemployment.
