RUMONGE, April 26th (ABP) – The profession of weaving sheets provides a living for some young girls and women in the urban center of Rumonge and its surroundings. Those who spoke with ABP said that they love this profession because it can be carried out at the same time with other activities and generate money.

This is the case of Suavis and Nadia working in a cafeteria and shop respectively. The latter revealed that while waiting, customers prefer to weave sheets, in order to improve their monthly income.

A sheet can be braided, according to them, for a sum varying between 40,000 and 80,000 BIF. The money they earn is used in other self-development projects. Miss Suavis clarified that she has already bought two piglets while Nadia uses this money for her needs.

On the question of why they do not work in association to increase production, the latter indicate that they fear the lack of buyers for their products. They have clarified that they can come together in an association if they find a suitable market. At the moment, they are waiting for a customer to place their order.

They, however, winked at other unemployed young girls and women to learn any trade so that they can fight poverty.
