The Speaker of the National Assembly calls on the people of Rutegama to work to combat poverty

MURAMVYA, February 21st (ABP) – The Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Daniel Gélase Ndabirabe, calls on the general population to work hard to exploit arable land in order to combat poverty.

He made that appeal on Saturday February 17, 2024 in Rutegama commune of Muramvya province (central-west Burundi) where he had joined the local people in community work consisting of mixing concrete for paving the interior of a meeting and lesson preparation hall for teachers of Munanira II basic school.

In his lessons that he gave after the said work, the Speaker of the National Assembly reviewed the different crises that Burundi has experienced, specifying that currently, the Burundians, in their diversity, are committed to making Burundi an emerging country in 2040 and developed country in 2060.

The Speaker of the National Assembly recommended that everyone ensure the protection of peace and security. He called on young people who are completing their school curriculum to integrate into the ranks of the defense and security forces with a view to contributing to tightening security.

Note that this community work was also attended by the people’s elected representatives and the governor of the Muramvya province.
