GITEGA, February 6th (ABP) – The Speaker of the National Assembly (PAN) of Burundi, Mr. Daniel Gélase Ndabirabe, recommended to territorial administrative officials to work together with the leaders of political parties to prepare a bill in relationship with the participation of each Burundian citizen in community development work.

Mr. Ndabirabe made that appeal on Saturday, during community work in Mutaho commune, Gitega province (center of the country). According to Mr. Ndabirabe, the Burundian government is convinced that this work undoubtedly constitutes one of the adequate means that can guide the Burundians on the path to development.

The PAN referred, among other things, to the multiple infrastructures that have already been built throughout the country thanks to this work. Mr. Ndabirabe recommended the establishment of parents’ committees for the monitoring and supervision of children, from nursery school to post-basic school.

The objective pursued is to encourage the effective involvement of the community in the promotion of education, in accordance with the philosophy of Burundian culture which advocates that the child belongs not only to the biological parents, but also to the nation, he clarified.

Mr. Ndabirabe also winked at young Burundians who misbehave, urging them instead to adopt responsible behavior.

To those who lead young girls into debauchery, he recommended that the provincial authorities reserve them the punishments they deserve. To close his remarks, the speaker of the National Assembly called on young people to enroll in large numbers in the defense and security corps to defend their homeland.
