CANKUZO January 24th (ABP) – The Burundian ombudsman, Mrs. Aimé Laurentine Kanyana, was Saturday January 20, 2024 in Gisagara commune of Cankuzo province (eastern Burundi) where she participated in community development work consisting of planting more of 7000 tree seedlings on Gikombe mountain of Kibogoye village.

Mrs. Kanyana invited investors from Cankuzo province to carry out projects of public interest, we learned on site.

The Burundian ombudsman indicated that work of that type is part of supporting President Evariste Ndayishimiye in the vision of the country emerging in 2040 and developed in 2060.

Recalling the importance of the Environment, Mrs. Kanyana called on the population to develop and break with the practice of bush fires. She therefore asked the provincial authorities to organize competitions on environmental protection.

To achieve the goal of sustainable development, Mrs. Kanyana urged the population to save the harvest and only sell the excess. She also advised the people of Cankuzo to limit births and send their children to school because, she said, they are the future executives of the country. Communes have a duty to raise awareness, at the time of wedding celebrations, of all new couples about those programs, insisted the Burundian ombudsman.

In relation to development, Mrs. Kanyana asked businessmen to make their contribution by carrying out public interest projects, such as the construction of health establishments and various factories. She did not forget to call on the entire population to get involved in safeguarding peace and security.
