Closing of the week dedicated to the environment in Rumonge commune

RUMONGE January 16th (ABP) – The week dedicated to the Rumonge environment ended on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in the Rumonge commune. The activities were marked by the planting of tree seedlings of different varieties on the Vumbaganya sub-village of the Minago village and zone.

Seven ministers from the government of Burundi participated in those activities.

On behalf of the latter, the Minister of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, Prosper Dodiko congratulated and encouraged the people of the Rumonge commune for their involvement in environmental protection and especially in planting tree seedlings. He also called on the owners of properties close to the tempo zone to respect the 150m. The people were also called upon to provide information on state lands occupied by private individuals, so that they could be returned to the State.

Note that approximately 10,500 tree seedlings were planted in the Minago zone while 50,000 tree seedlings were planted during that week dedicated to the environment, of which 20,000 tree seedlings were provided by the PRDAIGL organization.
