RUMONGE, April 23rd (ABP) – A landslide that occurred on Friday night at around 7pm on the Gabaniro village in the commune of Muhuta in Rumonge province has caused extensive damage, according to a provisional report provided by the local administration.
The report reveals that a 4-year-old child lost his life, 375 homes were destroyed, 2,485 people fled the locality, crop fields were damaged and all the infrastructure built as part of the Kirasa Energy project was demolished.
The Bujumbura-Rumonge Road was blocked a few days ago following a landslide at Nyaruhongoka in the locality of Kijejete.
