Residents of Kayanza challenged to preserve the environment

KAYANZA September 19th  (ABP) – The second vice-president of the Burundian Senate, Mr. Fabrice Nkurunziza, joined on Saturday September 16, 2023, the inhabitants of the Kayanza commune and province (north), in community development work which consisted of tracing a track on Kavumu hill.

Addressing the residents on site, Mr. Nkurunziza invited them to preserve the environment, especially by laying out anti-erosion hedges and installing fixative trees, especially since arable land is dwindling overnight.

He also asked the people to take up development work to achieve sustainable and inclusive development. Regarding the rabbit farming project, Mr. Nkurunziza asked those who do not yet have rabbits to join others in order to have foreign currency.

He called on the village notables to be good servants of the population to significantly reduce land conflicts. In that same vein, he called on those working in the judicial field to respect professional deontology and ethics to avoid wasting time and resources suffered by litigants.

Concerning children’s education, Mr. Nkurunziza asked the inhabitants of Kayanza to educate their children to go to school. He also called on them to supervise their daughters to prevent early marriages and pregnancies.
