MAKAMBA August 31st (ABP) – The Provincial Education Council of Makamba (South of the country) met on Tuesday, August 29, under the aegis of the governor of Makamba, to analyze the progress of preparations for the 2023/2024 school year, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

The participants indicated that the implementation of pre-school in all basic schools should proceed gradually. They suggested that trained teachers, teaching materials and suitable benches be available. They agreed to attach great importance to nursery school and the class 1 and 3 of primary school because the observation is that those classes record a lot of dropouts. Thereupon, teachers were called upon to avoid absence and lateness to service.

For schools that have buildings, directors must draw up a budget and make a schedule of activities which they will submit to the administrator via the communal director of education, before collecting a possible contribution.

The members of that Council also recommended building the capacities of post-basic teachers in integration pedagogy to achieve good performance. They also suggested that the technical sections be available in all communes, while making pupils aware of the need to follow the science sections.

Concerning the management of volunteer teachers, a management commission will be set up so that their treatment is identical throughout the province. The Council also asked communal directors of education to set up pilot schools which will introduce school gardens and small livestock, rabbits for instance.
