MAKAMBA September 1st (ABP) – The governor of Makamba province (South), Mrs. Françoise Ngozirazana, asked administrative officials and agronomists to raise awareness among the people on the effective preparation for the 2024 growing season A. It was during a meeting organized for administrators, staff of the provincial bureau of environment, agriculture and livestock (BPEAE) and that of the Burundi Environmental Protection Authority (OBPE).

Mrs. Ngozirazana hoped that all arable properties would be plowed on time. The people will have to apply organic manure and chemical fertilizer in their fields, she noted, while asking distributors of FOMI fertilizer to transport it very early to peripheral areas. At the same time, people must be made aware of the importance of the land pooling policy for bloc crops. Each citizen stays with their property but the important thing is to grow a single crop at the same time, on nearby properties. This makes it easier for agronomists to monitor fields.

The head of the environment service at BPEAE, Mr. Etienne Mpawenayo, indicated that PAN 53 maize seeds are available. He asked the administrators to collect marsh fees and direct them into the rehabilitation work of the latter.
