MWARO August 22nd (ABP) – Rabbit farming, which is the raising of domestic rabbits, is a productive and easy-to-practice project. Evrard Mugisha, rabbit farmer from Gasenyi village located in Rusaka commune, told a check by ABP in an interview.

Mr. Mugisha called on the young schoolchildren to practice rabbit farming. “It’s a livestock that requires little effort and little means, and reproduces quickly,” he said.

He said he developed the idea of raising rabbits after seeing that his parents’ income could not cover all the basic needs to supplement them.

He testified that he started rabbit farming with three rabbits, i.e., two females and one male. After a month, the two females gave birth to twelve little rabbits, so six for each female. Second, they gave birth to fifteen little rabbits.

For lack of means, he pointed out, the hutch is built in an archaic way with adobe bricks.

Thanks to the money obtained from rabbit farming, Mr. Mugisha has five goats and twenty-five rabbits. He clarified that he receives meat and manure. He helps his little brothers in the purchase of school materials, and also buys what he needs such as clothes and shoes. He also revealed that he got his seed capital from trapping moles.
