Towards the eradication of the illegal slaughter of domestic animals

RUTANA June 14th (ABP) – The Director of the Provincial Bureau of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock in Rutana, Mr. Pierre Claver Bagorikunda, held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at the provincial headquarters, a meeting for agriculture and livestock managers at all levels.

In his speech of the day, Mr. Bagorikunda deplored cases of slaughter of domestic animals outside officially known slaughterhouses. He specified that those cases continue to appear in various localities of the province, in particular in the communes of Rutana, Bukemba and Giharo.

He called on butchers who still practice the profession illegally to stop it, while inviting the administrative authorities to collaborate with the law enforcement and security officials to reassure themselves that any slaughter of a domestic animal is done in respect for the law.

Mr. Bagorikunda also reminded the entire population of Rutana province to implement the appeal of the President of the Republic inviting them to have a cultivated kitchen garden of at least twenty square meters during this summer period.

Mr. Bagorikunda also invited farmers to prepare well for the cropping season C which is drawing near, and to draw contour lines, in order to protect their arable land against erosion.
