KIRUNDO June 14th (ABP) – The football association of Kirundo province (northern Burundi), organized on Sunday June 11, 2023, a closing activity of the provincial and communal football championship, 2022-2023 edition, respectively for the third and fourth divisions, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
The leader of the football association of Kirundo province, Mr. François Nkebukande, indicated that two teams from the fourth division, namely New Vision from Bugabira commune and Flambeau du Nord from Kirundo commune have managed to move up to the third division. The Gisenyi FC team from Busoni commune will represent Kirundo province in the local championship of the third division.
Mr. Nkebukande pointed out that the football championship of Kirundo province is experiencing a lot of challenges. He cited the lack of modern stadiums and partners who can support the development of the championship.
He took the opportunity to ask everyone capable of contributing, to do so for the enhancement of the Kirundo championship. He asked the administrative officials to include the development of football in the communal community development plans (PCDC).
Note that this closing activity of the championship was marked by a match between New Vision of Bugabira and Gisenyi FC of Busoni, with a score of 2-1 in favor of New Vision. In order to motivate the teams that performed well, the two teams benefited from the trophies.
