BURURI, February 22nd (ABP) – The final of the national handball championship for girls and boys, took place on Sunday February 18, 2024 at the Rutovu games field, in Bururi province (southwest of Burundi).
On the younger girls’ side, the teams of Avenir from Rutovu played the Intwari from Bujumbura. The match ended with 43 goals of the Intwari team against 40 of Avenir.
The APDK team of Kayokwe in Mwaro province won the victory over Avenir from Rutovu with a score of 17 against 15.
On the senior women’s side, the “Fleurs du Nil” team from Rutovu won by defeating the Sisters from Bujumbura with a final score of 20 to 18.
On the men’s side, the Muzinga and SOS teams did not play following rain which fell in the afternoon in Rutovu. The match has been postponed for next weekend in Bujumbura.
The final took place in Rutovu because the handball coaches in Bururi province requested it from the federation and because this handball game has deep roots in the commune of Rutovu.
It is worth noting that all the matches were visibly played with exceptional technical skills.
