CIBITOKE March 22nd (ABP) – The complaints of farmers linked to the delay in the supply of chemical fertilizers is over among rice farmers in Cibitoke province. This was said on Monday, March 21, the day of the start of the distribution of those fertilizers.

The launch of the three-day fertilizer distribution campaign in Cibitoke was made by the assistant minister in charge of agriculture, Mrs. Rose Niyizobaza.

The communes concerned are Rugombo, Mugina and Buganda, where rice is grown on a large scale. That representative of the ministry called the beneficiaries of those fertilizers for the use of those fertilizers in the rice fields in the immediate future in order to remedy the nutrient deficiency, which was beginning to be observed.

The distribution began in Rugombo commune, by farmers not grouped into cooperatives and ended with cooperatives who obtain supplies in large quantities.

The representatives of the company producing those fertilizers “FOMI” were on the distribution sites, to collect the complaints of their customers.

As for the rice farmers, they ask that they be supplied in full with the fertilizers already paid, in order to avoid further delays in the applications.

Note that 400 tons of fertilizer must be distributed in the province until Wednesday, according to the director of the provincial office of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock in Cibitoke (BPEAE), Mrs. Béatrice Nyabenda.
