CIBITOKE, April 25th (ABP) – Women in polygamous unions are disrupting families and sowing misery.

Those are the words of the governor of Cibitoke province (north-west Burundi), Mr Carême Bizoza, after community work on Saturday 20 April in Cibitoke, which consisted of mixing and moving concrete to pave the administrative office of the school for the deaf and dumb, which opens its doors next September in the commune of Rugombo.

Governor Bizoza issued a warning to those who practice polygamy or cohabitation. He takes issue with those phenomena, as the date of 25 April 2024 has been set for all lists of polygamous men and women or those living in cohabitation to be submitted to his office.

Thus, all wives in polygamous unions will be sent back to their parents, while the children will remain with their fathers.
