KAYANZA September 28th (ABP) – The Provincial Directorate of Education (DPE) in Kayanza (north) met on Monday, September 26, 2022, in the headquarters of the Kayanza commune, its partners and school officials at both the provincial level as communal in order to discuss the achievements of the past school year and the priorities of the DPE for this coming year, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
In an interview granted to the ABP after the opening of that meeting, the provincial director of education in Kayanza, Mr. Désiré Hatungimana, was initially delighted that the annual action plan had been carried out at 116 %. Here he explained that alongside the planned activities, other activities have been added.
Despite that rate of achievement, he said, challenges have not been lacking. He cited, among other things, the insufficiency of teachers in basic school as well as in post-basic education, the insufficiency of textbooks and teaching aids, the recording of 19,307 cases of school drop-outs equivalent to more than 10% of pupils. registered throughout the province, the limited financial means, the lack of means of transport as well as the insufficiency of photocopiers and computers.
However, he positively appreciated the participation of the educational partners because their support contributes to the achievement of better results, he specified.
From these partners, he said he expected the improvement of the partnership and the trust they have in the educational leaders. Mr. Hatungimana recalled that the achievements of the partners were not well reported but that they will now be integrated into the various reports to be transmitted to the authority of the ministry.
Moreover, he is confident that the same education partners will align their support and achievements in the priorities of the ministry, which will make it possible to arrive at a consolidated annual action plan for the provincial directorate of education in Kayanza which meets the requirements of the ministry having education in its attributions.
