Appeal to tackle development work and fight against fraud

MAKAMBA December 21st (ABP) – The population of Makamba province (southern Burundi), accompanied by the provincial governor, Ms. Tantine Ncutinamagara, parliamentarians and department heads, welcomed the torch of peace on Saturday, December 16 the Nyengwe River, border of Makamba and Rumonge provinces.

The torch of peace lit the paving work of classrooms in Nyanza-Lac and Vugizo communes, while in Mabanda commune, the population was concreting the second slab of the three-level communal office under construction. The population was called upon to increase production and fight against fraud.

In Nyanza-Lac and Vugizo communes, the torch of peace lit the floors of classrooms, respectively at ECOFO Nyanza-Lac I and Gahandu.

Governor Ncutinamagara indicated that the population is working on various projects, whether it is the construction of public infrastructure, the supply of drinking water and electricity, without forgetting the protection of arable land and the environment.

For his part, the representative of the Intwararumuri association, Mr. Epipode Baranyikwa, asked the administrators to develop the list of activities and do their programming while ensuring that their activities lead to emerging Burundi in 2040. He invited the population to fight against fraud and be proud to pay taxes. Mr. Baranyikwa further encouraged the population to take up breeding of small livestock and poultry, and work in the fields to increase agricultural production. He also advised the population to develop tourist sites and build hotels to accommodate tourists. Parents will have to encourage their children to stay in school, while calling on them not to go abroad before completing their studies.

Each commune received 50 bags of cement, while the province had 500 bags of cement for the finishing work of the six-level provincial office,   a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
