MWARO September 25th (ABP) – The governor of Mwaro province, Gaspard Gasanzwe, in collaboration with a delegation from the “Buin Burundi” project in the field of solar energy, hosted, on Wednesday, September 20, an exchange session at the place of communal administrators.

Introducing the delegation, Governor Gasanzwe indicated that the “Buin Burundi” company wants Mwaro province to be a pilot province in the electrification of households using solar kits. He invited the delegation to popularize that project in the communes and the administrators to take that project as their own, stressing that it is an opportunity not to be missed.

According to the head of delegation, Mr. Dieudonné Ndayishimiye, this company opened its doors in Burundi in November 2022. They developed the idea after noting that the electrification rate in Burundi was low (11%) hence the need to increase the number of households that can have access to lighting.

Solutions have been proposed such as rural electrification by the domestic solar system. Session participants wanted to know about the sustainability of those products. According to this delegation, durability depends on the frequency of use but the guarantee given to the company is two years.

Note that the Buin Burundi project provides solar kits of three types, namely Wowsolar 60 which costs 43,4000BIF, Wowsolar 100 costing 617,000 BIF and Wowsolar 400 costing 735,000 BIF. The latter can even power a television, it has been noted.
