Official launch of the project to support the socio-economic empowerment of women

CANKUZO September 25th (ABP) – The governor of Cankuzo province, Mr. Boniface Banyiyezako, launched, on Friday, September 22, 2023, the project to support the socio-economic empowerment of women through the development of income-generating activities implemented by the anti-poverty association ALCP-URUMURI with funding from the French Embassy in Burundi.

According to the representative of that ALCP-URUMURI association, Mr. Emmanuel Ntahongendera, that project aims to develop sewing and plans to supervise 60 women and girls who will benefit from training, sewing materials and dry cleaning machines. It will be carried out at the Cankuzo village and commune. Governor Banyiyezako, in his speech, praised the intervention, in the development, of this association born in Kigamba commune, to fight against poverty. He called on the beneficiaries of this project to take advantage of the training and materials that will be given to them to promote development by taking care of major entrepreneurial affairs and sharing knowledge with others for inclusive development. He also invited them to take the opportunity to develop their sense of advice as women for the well-being of their families. That provincial authority took the opportunity to call on leaders to closely monitor the destination and use of donations granted to the people.
