The President of the Republic received in audience the Vice-President of the World Bank for Eastern and Southern Africa

BUJUMBURA September 12th  (ABP) – The President of the Republic, Evariste Ndayishimiye, received in audience, Friday September 7, 2023, Victoria Kwakwa, the Vice-President of the World Bank for Eastern and Southern Africa.

At the end of the audience, Victoria Kwakwa said that they had a good discussion with the President of the Republic and that they discussed many aspects of the partnership between the World Bank and Burundi.

She added that the World Bank is there to work with the Burundian government. Regarding the reforms that the government of Burundi is undertaking, Victoria Kwakwa indicated that the World Bank is committed to supporting it to obtain a positive result.

During that audience, Victoria Kwakwa said she discussed the improvement of projects in sectors including the energy sector, the transport sector, the social protection sector and the mining sector.

Indeed, the World Bank noted that the mining sector can help the country achieve the vision “Burundi emerging country 2040, developed country 2060”, particularly in the creation of jobs for young people, the organization of training for young people in order to transform the mining sector, the economy and develop the country, underlined Mrs. Kwakwa. She did not forget to emphasize that the World Bank hopes that its support will have a positive impact on the development of Burundi and the Burundians.
