MAKAMBA August 30th (ABP) – The governor of Makamba (southern Burundi), Mrs. Françoise Ngozirazana, brought together on Monday, August 28, 2023, the administrators, agronomists and technicians of the Burundi Environmental Protection Authority (OBPE) to assess the progress of the preparation for the nurseries, a check by ABP revealed.

The head of the provincial branch of the OBPE, Mr. Joseph Niyongabo, indicated that more than 900,000 biodegradable baskets have already been made. He said that the sprouters are installed.

Mr. Niyongabo said that the problems encountered in the work of setting up the nurseries are, among others, the lack of banana trees, watering cans and devastating termites.

The participants proposed that the natives of different villages should organize themselves to have biodegradable bags, watering cans and hire a person who will do the maintenance and watering of plants in the nursery.

Concerning the fight against bush fires, Mrs. Ngozirazana indicated that a leader of the village where a case of bush fires will be notified will be appealed once the arsonist will not be identified.
