BUJUMBURA August 24th (ABP) – Bujumbura province (western Burundi) organized, on Wednesday August 23, 2023, at the headquarters of Kabezi commune, a festival where participants from the nine communes making up the province demonstrated their talents through games, dances, poetry and the presentation of works of art that emanate from their intelligence, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
Under the theme “Your talents are your pillar to build your future”, the festival-goers, through their individual and collective talent, exhibited the drum and traditional dances. Pastoral poetry was also on the program.
Manufacturers of essential oils from eucalyptus trees and lemongrass, stone cutters in cups, panels, and small houses, blacksmiths of hoes and various agricultural implements, a manufacturer of mechanical motor pumps, were also present. Baskets made on site as well as knitwear, tablecloths, and flowers were exhibited to demonstrate their intellectual genius.
Asked whether they have already transmitted their know-how to young people in order to perpetuate it, the manufacturers of art objects and a blacksmith replied that they do so for children, at least those who accept to learn these small trades. They say that the government should set up a national center for learning those trades and they are ready to provide the training.
They regret that they have not reached a high level for lack of capital and ask for the support from the government.
