KAYANZA August 8th (ABP) – Any village leader of Muruta commune, in Kayanza province (north), who fails to build his/her village office until January 2024, will be dismissed from his/her position, because he/she will have undermined the development of the village, the commune and the country in general. This was mentioned on Saturday, August 5, 2023, during the inauguration ceremonies of the Nyamiyogoro village office, which coincided with the celebration of the National Day dedicated to the communes. The second vice governor of the Bank of the Republic of Burundi, Mrs. Marie Goreth Ndayishimiye, indicated that apart from the construction of those village offices, the communal administration should also consider building major infrastructures. For her, this would encourage the natives to pay their contributions, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

According to the administrator of the commune of Muruta, Mr. Audace Hacimana, a village office is very important in the sense that it facilitates people to confide easily in the administrative officials, and the holding of meetings. Given that the Burundian government has initiated a program to set up care stations on all the villages, he added that some rooms in the village offices can be reserved for that service.
