KIRUNDO June 23rd (ABP) – The governor of Kirundo province (northern Burundi), Albert Hatungimana, asked the people of Busoni commune to work courageously, referring to the government’s vision, Burundi emerging in 2040 and developed in 2060. That appeal was made on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, during the trips he is making to the zones of that province, to inquire about the complaints and grievances of people, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
Governor Hatungimana urged those who commit economic embezzlement to change their behavior, especially those who practice fraudulent trade, to beware of this despicable act. He pointed the finger at miners and those who extract other types of minerals.
From now on, it is strictly forbidden to empty the stocks of minerals, without the authorization of the governor, Mr. Hatungimana specified. He recommended to the communal administrators to also padlock those stocks to protect the public treasury.
In social matters, during the meeting, the case of a person accused of witchcraft, who was mistreated by neighbors to the point of destroying his house, was mentioned. The governor recommended that the police arrest all those who destabilized that person’s family and bring them to justice.
With regard to human rights, the repatriation service in the northern region of Burundi, decided to build a house for a homeless woman, who lived in the Gatare market, in Busoni commune with her 12-year-old daughter.
In addition, the farmers of the Lake Rweru plain who have opted for the cultivation of onions, asked that the State grant them the subsidy of phytosanitary products, as is done for chemical fertilizers. They also asked for motor pumps to facilitate irrigation, in order to increase production.
