BUBANZA June 23rd (ABP) – The inhabitants of the Bubanza province (north-west of Burundi), are called upon to respect tax obligations, to facilitate the implementation of development projects in their communes. This appeal was made to them on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, by the governor’s chief of staff, Jean Bosco Nduwimana.

That provincial authority has made that appeal because some local residents not only do not declare, but also do not pay certain taxes such as property tax.

For example, concerning this type of tax, in Bubanza commune, out of more than 3,000 households, only 339 houses have been declared and less than 10% of these are in order with this property tax, he told a check in Bubanza by ABP.

The chief of staff in the office of the governor of Bubanza province asks them to realize that it is these taxes which facilitate the implementation of the communal projects, of which they are the first beneficiaries.

To the local administrative authorities, he invites them to strengthen the learning of tax citizenship, to their constituents. And if possible, he adds, it would be better to set up tax citizenship clubs in schools.
