BUBANZA April 26th (ABP) – The First Lady of the Republic of Burundi, Angéline Ndayishimiye, harvested rice on Monday, April 24, 2023, in the sector of the presidential family, located in Gifurwe village, in Mpanda commune (North-West of Burundi), a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

According to the director of the Provincial Bureau of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock (BPEAE), Emmanuel Ndikubaganwa, and other agricultural technicians, who have monitored this 7-hectare field, the expected harvest is around 50 tons. The rice grown there is of the hybrid variety, they say.

The director of BPEAE Bubanza says that the harvest was good in that field as well as on 6276 hectares of rice fields that were cultivated, throughout the province, during the cropping season A.

He calls on rice farmers during the harvest to resume planting that crop immediately afterwards.
