CANKUZO April 4th (ABP) – The Sangwe cooperative of Mugera village in Mishiha commune, Cankuzo province, began harvesting maize in a field of nearly 3 ha on Saturday April 1, 2023, a check by ABP revealed.

According to the leader of that cooperative, Mr. Lambert Karenzo, they expect to have at least 6 tons of maize seeds even if they have experienced a lot of weather variations.

Apart from that crop, that cooperative has also engaged in the crop of rice and sorghum and is in possession of more than 140 pigs and more than 80 goats, Mr. Karenzo added.

In addition, the cooperative plans to raise rabbits and cows to further facilitate the fertilization of their fields.

Mr. Karenzo asks the authorities to build a shed for them to store their harvest in that village, in order to reduce expenses.

He advises all the people of that village who have not yet joined the cooperative to join others in the fight against poverty.

That work was attended by the administrator of Mishiha commune, Mr. Frédéric Nzoyisaba, the representative of the federation of Unions of Sangwe village cooperatives in Cankuzo province, Mr. Rénovat Miburo, and the MP Marie Rose Nahimana, at the same time a member of the staff, as well as communal supervisors of the cooperative movement.
