NGOZI February 14th (ABP) – Burundi Head of State, Evariste Ndayishimiye, participated, on Saturday, February 11, in community development work, in Ngozi commune, which consisted of mixing concrete for the pavement of the ground floor of a building under construction in that commune.

In his welcoming address, the governor of Ngozi, Emmanuel Ntaconsanze, said that all the communes that make up the Ngozi province are determined to promote community development works by organizing them every Saturday in all zones.

In his speech, the President of the Republic thanked the inhabitants of Ngozi for their active participation. He spoke with the participants about the values of love, respect and development.

According to the Head of State, the root causes of poverty and underdevelopment lie in the lack of love for one’s neighbor and for one’s country. He gave some illustrations which show that without love nothing can progress. He cited in particular injustice, the squandering of public funds, indifference in terms of hygiene and sanitation. The Head of State insisted on mutual respect by emphasizing that everyone needs the other. To respect one’s neighbor is to obey one’s creator, President Ndayishimiye insisted.

It is also necessary to respect the hierarchical superiors, the institutions of the country and the law, he added, indicating that if the law is not respected, development is impossible. Talking about planning everyone’s activities and time management, he advised everyone to know how to organize self-development activities daily.

On that occasion, the Head of State gave a cow to a young man nicknamed Bikorwa to encourage all Burundians to highlight a job well done.

Note that this building under construction in Ngozi commune is a major construction site in progress. In addition to public services, that five-storey building will also house shops and other multifunctional services. Currently, the slab of the second floor is finished. They are at the beams of the third floor.
