Closing of the World Peace Games in Burundi

RUTANA December 5th  (ABP) – The World Peace Games, organized by the SOS Children’s Village organization, ended in Burundi on Thursday, December 1, in Rutana province with the finals of football matches, the competition of drawings, and through question-and-answer games, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

The communication officer within this organization in Rutana province Mr. John Njejimana indicated that these games aim at the consolidation of peace within the young people

Mr. Njejimana pointed out that in addition to the aforementioned objective; those games are also organized with the aim of promoting youth talents and sports education for young people in basic and post-fundamental schools. It is also an opportunity for the children accommodated by the SOS village to meet the other children of the entourage to be encouraged, given that the children’s villages mainly accommodate orphans or nationals of poor families.

In order to reach the majority of children, the World Peace Games are organized at school level, and nine schools in Rutana commune participated this year. Mr. Njejimana said that the program of these games was born in Burundi in 2014.

The ceremonies ended with the award ceremony. The winning soccer teams, the boys’ and the girls’ received a soccer ball each. The eight finalists in the drawing competition received prizes ranging from ten thousand to one thousand Burundian francs.
