BUJUMBURA November 7th (ABP) – The President of the Republic, Evariste Ndayishimiye, accompanied by the Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD party, Révérien Ndikuriyo, the Mayor of the city of Bujumbura, Jimmy Hatungimana and other high authorities, met joined with members of the Intwararumuri association and the population of the City of Bujumbura in the community works for the rehabilitation of the Intwari stadium.
This activity is part of the caravan of the torch of peace for its 16th edition which was launched on Wednesday, November 2, in the town hall of Bujumbura, by the President of the Republic. After these works, the President of the Republic made a guided tour of the Intwari stadium site in rehabilitation to see the progress of the work.
The Head of State mentioned during his launch speech that the government has committed an envelope of one billion Burundian francs for the rehabilitation of this stadium. According to President Ndayishimiye, the sum mobilized comes from recoveries of embezzlement of public funds operated by certain public officials.
