The First Lady of Burundi received in audience the Honorary Consul of Burundi in Romania

GITEGA, April 19th (ABP) – The First Lady of Burundi, Angeline Ndayishimiye, received in audience on Wednesday 17 April 2024, the Honorary Consul of Burundi in Romania, Mr. Stéphane Berciu and his assistant, who had come to visit the headquarters of the Bonne Action Umugiraneza Foundation located in Kibimba, commune Giheta, Gitega province (central Burundi), a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

The First Lady praised the cooperation between the Bonne Action Umugiraneza Foundation and Romania. She thanked the Honorary Consul of Burundi in Romania and his assistant for their first visit to the foundation’s head office to see for themselves the work that the country supports.

She also pointed out that the visitors had said that Romania was going to redouble its efforts to support the foundation, in particular by sending doctors specializing in various fields to work at the Umugiraneza polyclinic. She also pointed out that Romania is also supporting the projects of the First Lady’s Office for Development (OPDD) to eradicate diseases linked to malnutrition.

Mrs. Ndayishimiye indicated that after the extension work on the Umugiraneza polyclinic, this foundation will be providing support in the field of education, because, she said, health and education are the foundations of a country’s development.

Lastly, the First Lady pointed out that the Bonne Action Umugiraneza Foundation and Romania would be signing a cooperation agreement to enable Consul Stéphane Berciu to present a document to his country.

The First Lady also encouraged the staff of the Umugiraneza polyclinic, particularly its director, for the excellent work they are doing to develop and promote the clinic. This followed a guided tour by Consul Stéphane Berciu and his assistant of the Umugiraneza polyclinic’s hospital rooms.
