PRODEFI II closes its six-year activities on December 31st

MURAMVYA December 20th (ABP) – Administrative officials, those responsible for development and technicians in the provincial Bureau of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock – BPEAE – in Muramvya (Center-West) are invited to ensure the sustainability of the achievements of the Farming Sector Development Program (PRODEFI II) that will officially close its activities on December 31, a check by ABP, in a meeting organized jointly on Friday by the office of the governor of Muramvya province and the provincial office of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, has revealed.

In the meeting, the chief of staff in the office of the governor, Mr. Christophe Nemeyimana, indicated that the PRODEFI II project carried out a lot of activities in the communes of Bukeye, Kiganda, Mbuye and Rutegama, among others, the swamps of Mubarazi-Kaniga on 170 ha including 140ha in the communes of Mbuye and Rutegama; 19 km of rehabilitated roads, contour lines to protect 2,610 ha in the four communes, 377 cattle distributed which are currently estimated at 900 following reproduction. PRODEFI II B also distributed 460 pigs while 1065 cows were inseminated and 345 calves have already been born thanks to the insemination.

Two milk collection centers were built while tree seedlings were grown, said Ali Kassim, the provincial director of Agriculture and Livestock.

The communal administrators and technicians in the sectors of intervention of PRODEFI II are mobilized by the chief of staff in the office of the governor of Muramvya, so that in their turn, they can mobilize the beneficiaries and the people for the sustainability of the achievements of PRODEFI II but also those of PRODEFI I.
