GITEGA August 3rd (ABP) – The leader of the provincial association for the integral development of Gitega (central Burundi), Mr. Déo-Bède Mpfubusa, expressed his warm thanks to all natural and legal persons for their financial support in the construction of the buildings of the Polytechnic University of Gitega (UPG).

He specified that a sum of more than 45 million Burundi francs, collected for that purpose, is on the account of the UPG. Thus, he asked the people of Gitega province to stand up as one man to advance the construction work of the infrastructure of that university to the end.

Mr. Mpfubusa delivered those remarks on July 31, 2021, during the community development work that took place at the UPG. These consisted of mixing cement, sand and gravel with water in order to produce concrete which was used to raise the columns of the second floor of a building of that university. The work saw the participation of the natives of that province working outside it and of the people of the urban center of Gitega and its outskirts. University students native to Gitega province studying in Bujumbura or in other provinces also responded to the work. According to Mr. Mpfubusa, their presence was requested because they are a living force on which the province relies both today and in the future.

Shortly before, the governor of Gitega province, Mr. Venant Manirambona, expressed his satisfaction to the previous speaker for his active involvement in the development of the province and wished him to move forward. He asked the people to adhere to the policy of the government which wants the mouth of every citizen to have enough to eat and money in the pocket. He also asked them to continue to contribute in favor of the construction of the UPG.
