BUJUMBURA July 1st (ABP) – “The Chinese side has synergized Burundi’s national development strategy with its development strategy, while especially mobilizing interpreters to translate the National Development Plan (PND 2018-2027) and the agricultural policy orientation document (2020-2027) into Chinese in order to better orient all-out cooperation,” said Mrs. Zhao Jiangping, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burundi, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

In that context of development based on the PND, Mrs. Jiangping noted that in September 2020, the commissioning ceremony of the Bubanza Agricultural Pilot Center was honored with the presence of the President of the Republic, Mr Evariste Ndayishimiye. In January 2021, a team of Chinese agricultural experts visited Burundi to start work in the Center and the provinces. In addition, the Ruzibazi hydroelectric power plant of 15 MW, which is being built by China, will be commissioned in 2022, Mrs Jiangping said.

“The Chinese side is working to ensure that the fruits of cooperation between our two countries benefit the people and that the quality of life of Burundians improves,” the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burundi noted.

According to her, the CPC hopes that the experiences that China has accumulated over decades of trial and error can inspire African countries. To that end, she recalled that in 2018, the President of the Republic of Burundi participated in the thematic meeting of Africa on the high-level dialogue between the CPC and the political parties of the world, including the ruling party in Burundi, the CNDD-FDD. For the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Burundi, the close ties and mutual inspirations existing between the CPC and the CNDD-FDD contribute to high-level mutual political trust, serve as a solid basis for the development of relations between the two countries, and further strengthen the friendship.

For Mrs. Jiangping, “at this new starting point of its centennial celebration, the CPC will spare no effort to further strengthen the China-Africa all-out strategic partnership.” She pointed out that the CPC will work together with Burundi for the happiness and well-being of both peoples.
