BURURI, May 29th (ABP) – Users of the national road number seven (RN7) Bujumbura-Rutana are asking for it to be maintained in the locality of Ruko in the commune of Mugamba in Bururi province.

As ABP observed, it is difficult for large vehicles to get through the damaged area. The local administrator of Mugamba, Venuste Ntahombaye, pointed out that the road could break down at any time.

He called on the Burundi Road Agency (ARB) to rehabilitate that very important infrastructure for the movement of people and goods as soon as possible, before any casualties occur.

A team from the ARB was quickly dispatched to the site to take stock of the situation. Studies will begin soon.

ARB Director General Constantin Bigirimana advised road users to use the bypass that the Burundi Road Agency has laid out until the road is repaired.

Drivers of large vehicles say that the bypass runs on a steep slope. The population and the local administration are worried about the likelihood of accidents if nothing is done immediately.
