The President of the Republic paid a visit to two livestock breeders in the Gihanga commune

BUBANZA May 17th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, visited two rabbit and pig breeders on Monday May 13, 2024, on the Kagwema village in the Gihanga commune (North-West), according to local sources.

The rabbit farmer visited by the Head of State, Didier Nizigiyimana, owns a company called “Refotracom Farm of Gihanga”.He told the distinguished guest that he currently owns 231 rabbits, although he started with 65 in November 2023. He also raises poultry and goats, and plans to start raising cattle. Thanks to his company, 10 jobs have been created.

As for the pig farmer visited by the President of the Republic, his company, called “Uburimyi n’Ubworozi Family”, started with 12 pigs in 2021, and is currently up to 2000 pigs. Justin Yaramba, the owner, announced that he had already created 100 permanent jobs and 300 temporary ones, according to local sources.

In his speech, President Ndayishimiye called on the local people to support those two entrepreneurs. He asked them to overcome laziness and take on self-development projects for the well-being of their households.

He invited them to increase production to the point of exporting to bring in foreign currency for the country.  He also called on them to safeguard peace and security, the pillars of development.
