CIBITOKE March 12th (ABP) – As part of the MERANKABANDI project through FAO, 20,490 kilograms of bean seed were granted, Wednesday March 6, 2024, to 1,376 vulnerable households in Rugombo commune.

For the beneficiaries, that support comes at the right time; at the right time for sowing beans for the 2024 growing season B. They also appreciated the quantity of 15 kilos granted per household, because it could be enough for the sowing of an area of almost half a hectare. They also discouraged anyone who would try to use that bean for other purposes.

The director of BPEAE Cibitoke, Béatrice Nyabenda welcomed that support from the government via the FAO, towards families with low means of living, and indicated that that type of support in seeds is planned for all the communes of her province, those of the plain like those of the mountains.

She took the opportunity to provide advice to the beneficiaries on the proper use of those seeds, which come after the granting of fertilizers only a few days ago.

She winked at the beneficiaries, so as not to listen to certain traders who might confuse them, and buy them that bean at a ridiculous price.

As for the administrator of the Rugombo commune, Gilbert Manirakiza, he expressed his feeling of satisfaction with that support towards his people; he thanked the hill chiefs and the monitors, who facilitated its distribution, for the benefit of the real beneficiaries, most of whom are victims of climate change.

He called on the beneficiaries of the seeds to stop other occupations, in order to immediately sow. He warned any lazy people who try to sell those seeds.
