KARUSI, February 22nd, (ABP) – It is time to start the growing season B, according to the director of the Provincial Office of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, Jean Séverin Sinzobatohana, in an appeal launched last week to farmers, during an interview with a check by ABP.

“It is time to start sowing crops for agricultural season B, notably beans, soybeans and potatoes,” underlined Mr. Sinzobatohana, who advised farmers to start sowing from February 15 to close on March 5, 2024.

He advises that those who have already started should be careful when plowing or sowing in a maize field to avoid cutting the roots and, instead, raise more of the earth around the foot.

He also recommends applying more chemical and organic fertilizers for these new crops, while avoiding the claim according to which the manure of season A is enough for the future.

The selected seeds and the line sowing is compulsory, the BPEAE technicians are there to help them, orders the director of the BPEAE.

Regarding beans and peas, Mr. Sinzobatohana recommends strong, long supporting devices. Note that he recalls that the application of urea to rice crops before weeding is necessary and that now is the time.
