GITEGA, February 6th ABP) – The President of the Republic, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, on Wednesday February 31, 2024, made the leaders of political parties approved in Burundi visit the various farming projects that he initiated in the Gitega and Karusi provinces. Such an experience exchange visit was organized to respond to the request of those political party leaders, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

In Gitega province, the visit began at the headquarters of the Sovert-Aka company which set up the myciculture farm at Kibimba in Giheta commune. That company has a production capacity of 200 tons of mushrooms per year.

Guided by the President of the Republic, those leaders of the political parties then visited the cattle farm based in Murayi of the same commune. The latter has more than 60 cows. Among those cows, the President offered 9 to political leaders to help them form a cooperative dedicated to political parties. The Burundi Head of State also showed them a biogas production facility with a capacity to light 5,000 light bulbs. This installation uses dung from that farm.

They also visited the pig breeding center in Kabanga village of Giheta commune, which has more than 320 pigs.

In Gitega, the said political party leaders also visited the modern rabbit slaughterhouse being built at Gasunu (Giheta commune) and, finally, the Bugendana farming complex where the Head of State granted them two cows of improved breed to strengthen that cooperative of political leaders which will soon be formed.

In Karusi province, President Ndayishimiye made those political leaders visit the Canzikiro farm (Bugenyuzi commune) where he installed fish ponds for tilapia, clarias and carp.

The visit ended at the major construction site to extend the presidential palace of Gitega.

The leader of the UPRONA party, Mr. Olivier Nkurunziza, warmly thanked the Head of State for that visit to exchange experiences and for the donation which, he said, constitutes a sign of fraternity among the political parties. According to him, that cooperative will strengthen the bonds of friendship and collaboration among members of various political parties.

For his part, the leader of the FNL party, Mr. Jacques Bigirimana, also praised the bravery of the Head of State in implementing sustainable development projects for every mouth to have something to eat and every pocket, money. He indicated that the works of President Ndayishimiye inspired them, hence, he added, they were committed to following in his footsteps.

As for the secretary general of the CNDD-FDD party, Mr. Réverien Ndikuriyo, he noted that this visit constitutes a good opportunity to clean up the political climate in Burundi. He also positively appreciated that initiative of President Ndayishimiye to found a common cooperative of political parties, thus promising a 2ha plot of land where the 11 cows granted by the Head of State will be raised. According to Mr. Ndikuriyo, that cooperative will serve as a model for political party activists.

Note that after the said visit to exchange experiences, the President of the Republic offered those political party leaders a friendly dinner and gifts in recognition of that event.
