BUBANZA January 15th (ABP) – The Speaker of the National Assembly, Daniel Gélase Ndabirabe, joined forces on Saturday, January 13, 2024, with the inhabitants of the Gihanga commune (north-west of Burundi), in community development work , a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

Those community works consisted of the rehabilitation of the road which connects the RN 9 (Bujumbura-Bubanza) to the RN 5 (Bujumbura-Cibitoke), passing over the villages of Kizina, Buramata, Ndava Busongo, Rugunga and Gihungwe in the same commune of Gihanga.

The governor of Bubanza province, Cléophas Nizigiyimana, said that that road was damaged by torrential rains which fell in that province recently and which also destroyed fields, bridges, tracks and more than 1500 houses in Gihanga commune.

However, he deplores those who spread rumors saying that there is a presence of criminals in certain localities in that province, we learned on site.

In his speech, Mr. Ndabirabe invited the inhabitants of the commune of Gihanga to take responsibility for safeguarding peace and security. Here, he asked them not to be misled by the lull, but to double vigilance in order to deal with any possible security threats. The other call is linked to the development of patriotism by always acting in the general interest.

As for the climatic hazards, which cannot be controlled, and which have caused rain to destroy public infrastructure, houses and fields, he called them to prayer.

Note that MPs elected in the Bubanza constituency and native executives of that province were also present in that community development work.
