The First Lady of Burundi commends the partnership between the “Bonne Action Umugiraneza” Foundation and the “Merck” Foundation

BUJUMBURA October 20th (ABP) – The First Lady of the Republic of Burundi, Angeline Ndayishimiye participated on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in Mombai, India, in the inaugural session of the 10th edition of the Africa-Asia conference of the Merck Foundation.

In his speech, the CEO of the Merck Foundation, Dr. Rasha Kelej, thanked the participants by telling them that his organization has already awarded more than 1,700 scholarships to young doctors from 50 countries in the fields of diabetology, oncology, embryology and others. The First Lady of the Republic of Burundi, Angeline Ndayishimiye, for her part, specified that she is satisfied with the partnership between the Merck foundation and the Bonne action Umugiraneza foundation, especially with regard to training scholarships for specialist doctors, in the most underserved programs in Burundi like fertility and others. Note that this activity saw the participation of 10 First Ladies and other delegations from Africa and Asia as well as doctors and media professionals and the winners of Merck Foundation training scholarships.
