Burundi is home to the 4th edition of the High Level Forum of Women Leaders

BUJUMBURA, October 9th (ABP) – The executive secretary of the Office of the First Lady for Development in Burundi (OPDD-Burundi), Dr. Bosco Girukwishaka hosted, on Friday October 6, 2023, a press briefing during which he announced the High-Level Forum of Women Leaders from All Walks of Life. According to him, the forum will be held in Bujumbura from October 9 to 11 under the central theme “Contribution of family planning to achieving good nutritional status and the demographic dividend”.

The same forum will be attended by first ladies from certain African countries, friends of Burundi, regional representatives of organizations of the United Nations system and other regional institutions.

The forum will also include representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps accredited to Burundi, parliamentarians, senior State executives and many other distinguished guests, he added.

According to Girukwishaka, the central theme of the forum will highlight the importance of family planning to achieve optimal nutritional status, balanced population growth and their contribution to the economic development of the country.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore the close links between family planning, nutrition and the demographic dividend and discuss effective strategies to promote these key areas. According to him, the high-level forum of women leaders will include plenary sessions, panel discussions, interactive sessions and case study presentations that will address various aspects of family planning.

Participants will also have the opportunity to share their experiences, establish lasting partnerships and strengthen collaborative networks, in order to promote concrete actions and effective policies to promote the well-being of women and families, he said.
